IT Department
The Information Technology Department provides a broad range of technology support services to the ONU
community. The department consists of 22 full-time staff, with another 2 part-time staff and 22 student
workers and is located in the west wing of the Benner Library building. The Director of
Information Technology who reports to the Vice President for Finance heads the department.
- Applications Services
Applications Services provides various Information Systems services in order
to support campus operations in relation to technological needs. This is
done through a variety of processes including systems analysis, systems design,
systems maintenance, application development, application implementation, product
evaluation, training, and troubleshooting. The goal of Applications Services is
to maintain the highest quality of support for current campus IS needs and to
gather and evaluate information to most appropriately solve any future campus IS needs.
- Help Desk and Technical Support
Help Desk and Technical Support exists to provide assistance to
ONU faculty, staff, and students in the use of computer-related technology. If you
do not know where to get help, this is the place to start! We answer questions about computer
hardware and software, networking, accessing the network from off-campus, obtaining an
e-mail/network account, and much more. If your request is better handled by someone with more
expertise in a particular area, Help Desk staff members will refer you to the appropriate technical
contact. No appointment is necessary.
- Networking
The Networking team is the technology infrastructure support
division for the Office of Information Technology. We develop, implement
and support critical infrastructure such as the data center, the data
network and the telephone wiring system that are used by the Olivet Nazarene
University community.
- PC Support
PC Support provides equipment, hardware, software, information, resources, training, and support
to students, faculty and professional staff at Olivet Nazarene University that will improve and
enhance instruction, research and service to the campus.
- Telecommunications
The Telecommunications Services team provides Olivet Nazarene University faculty, students,
administrators and staff with cost effective, quality services in voice, data and
video communications in support of the University's mission. The Telecommunications Services
team is committed to ensuring a superior level of service to the University through proven methods
and technologies while monitoring change and planning for the future in a cost effective manner.
The University owns and operates its own telecommunications system on its campus and remote
sites. The Telecommunications Services team is responsible for the procurement, installation,
management and use of all telecommunications services (voice, data, and video) at all University
locations.
- Web Development
The web development team is made up of HTML content managers, CGI and ASP programmers and graphic
artists. Together, the team performs web-related services for ONU campus departments and organizations.
The Office of Public Information approves all content associated with Olivet's official web site at
www.olivet.edu. The web development Team works continuously to
provide innovative services and features to the University's web users. In addition to daily maintenance
of several University web sites, the web team works on a variety of projects throughout the year.
