Olivet Nazarene University has implemented a state-of-the-art printing system which utilizes the existing ONU ID Smart Card System. Print for Pay printing saves time, saves money, and saves trees.

Print for Pay Overview
ONU is committed to providing the best possible educational opportunities to students. This commitment has lead ONU to ensure that all students have access to new technology.
Computers are an essential part of today's educational experience. ONU strives to stay current with the computer industry, balancing the need and cost for new technology with the value to be gained for the students, staff and faculty.
Along with many other technological improvements, ONU has installed Print for Pay, a new printing system. Print for Pay will save time and money for students and educational departments. In addition, Print for Pay will help preserve our natural resources and the environment.

Print for Pay Saves Time
Print for Pay allows for greater flexibility and privacy in printing. Students no longer stand in line to retrieve their work from the printer as it prints with all other students' papers. Once sent to the queue from a lab computer, the print job can be printed from any campus Print for Pay Release Station.
Printing is as easy as 1-2-3. Simply insert the ONU ID card into the Print for Pay Access Reader and enter the student login on the Print for Pay Release Station. Select the work to be printed and the ONU ID print and copy value will be updated based upon the number of pages printed.

Print for Pay Saves Money
By implementing the Print for Pay system, the cost of new equipment, maintenance of equipment, and the cost of printing and copying has been greatly reduced. The best part of all is the cost savings to the students and departments. Due to lower maintenance and printing costs, the price per page has been reduced to 7 cents.
The Print for Pay System utilizes a combination printer and copier machine. This in turn reduces the amount of equipment needed to purchase and to maintain. In addition, the new digital high-speed equipment prints and copies 4 to 10 times faster than the replaced equipment.

Print for Pay Saves Trees
Print for Pay allows greater control over work printed. Last year, ONU students, staff, and faculty made over 6 million copies and prints. Research shows that approximately 50 percent of prints and copies made are discarded due to overprinting of work that has not been checked or unused website and research information. Over a hundred trees can be saved in a single year by carefully selecting the pages to print or copy. In turn, less wasted toner results in a cleaner environment.

Print for Pay Products
Print for Pay Release Station

This is where the student goes after they have sent their job to the print queue. The student provides his or her login ID or the workstation name for public computers. The computer displays all print jobs and the student selects the job that should be printed. The student is prompted to swipe their ID card, which will debit the card appropriately and allow the job to print.
Card Reader

This is the part of the release station in which the student would swipe their card to release a job from the print queue and debit their card.
Copier & Print for Pay Access Tower

This is where a student can use their card to make copies and then debit their card.
Service Center

This is where a non-student or student can add money to their existing card. Non-students can purchase a public card at the Benner service center.
